Squirrel leech is a very effective fly pattern that actually swims like leech, which is one of the favorite foods of fish, including trout. This leech fly pattern comes in different colors and sizes, making them even more useful.

Due to its plain look and wear-resistant capability, it is ideal for fishermen who want to catch more fish under different water conditions

At Stone Creek Outfitters, we have carefully chosen high-quality nymphs and leeches for fly fishing that help you increase your chances of getting a catch and be ready for any type of fishing experience, regardless of weather.

Features of our Nymphs

Our nymphs and leeches are crafted with durability in mind, using high-quality materials that resist wear and tear. Available in sizes #8 to #12, these products come in various colors, such as black, crawdad orange, natural, and sculpin olive. Each design mimics real aquatic insects, providing a lifelike appearance that fish can’t resist.

Also, these flies offer excellent durability, withstand rough waters, and are easy to use. Their lifelike design and color variations make them an essential tool for attracting a wide range of fish species, enhancing your fishing experience every season.

How to Properly Cast

If you are interested in using the fly fishing method to catch fish, here are a few steps you need to follow.

  • To set the nymph or leech fly, you first have to tie it well to the leader or tippet on the string or line.
  • Then, attach the hook. Generally speaking, #8–12 hook sizes should be used, depending on the type of fish to be caught and the local water conditions.
  • Then, make a knot and tighten it as much as possible to avoid the fly from coming off when casting.
  • Make use of a floating line or a sinking line depending on the water surface where the fish feed.

The appropriate way of using our fly fishing gear is by placing the fly at the upstream level and letting it flow naturally along the downstream flow. This technique imitates the action of real insects on water, and the fish are trapped when they attempt to reach for it.

In slower waters, a slow retrieval should be used so as to give the impression that the fly is swimming. However, keep in mind that casting techniques vary depending on water conditions and the type of fish in a particular area.
