Description
Royal Coachman
The Royal Coachman is a fly that has been used as a wet fly, dry fly and streamer pattern.
Originally designed as a Coachman imitation, the red floss was wrapped around the body to make the fly more durable.
This Royal Coachman is the dry fly version that was originally tied by John Hailey in 1878. Used mostly as a dry fly and fished floating on the surface. A classic pattern that has no problem sparking a fish-s curiosity. Extremely popular in the western Rockies for Brook Trout. This pattern imitates many insects from ants to Mayflies. It is a popular and widely used pattern for freshwater game fish, particularly trout and grayling.
